Newspaper Articles on Mosaics

It's Monday night, The Daily Show starts in 9 minutes, and I have zip for Mosaic Mondays. I'm rubbing ashes in my face in contrition. How's this--a couple of Los Angeles Times stories run this month.
  1. The first, a Lost LA column by Sam Watters, tells the history of Savings and Loans, Buildings and Loans, and how Mr. Ahmanson made Home Savings into "marble-clad temples to the once-mighty dollar, decorated with murals, stained glass and sculpture on walls and at entrance facades." Also, how much of the artwork has disappeared.
  2. A review of a show featuring Millard Sheets' work at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. The show is of his early work, ending in 1944, so there are no Home Savings of America mosaics here. The reviewer calls the collection "useful if rather uninspiring." Ugh. And like Watters, he compares Ahmanson to a modern-day Medici-like patron of the arts.
That's it. That's all I got.
